Our Philosophy
HKCEXAT combines traditional talk therapy with creative expression as a means of promoting emotional healing and well-being. This approach recognizes that not everyone responds well to traditional talk therapy and that some individuals may benefit from a more experiential and creative approach.
At a counseling and arts therapy center, clients may work with both a therapist and an arts therapist, or a therapist who is trained in both talk therapy and arts therapy. The therapist may use a range of different creative modalities, such as drawing, painting, sculpting, or movement, to help clients explore their thoughts and feelings and gain insights into their experiences.
The goal of this approach is to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can express themselves in a nonverbal way, which can be particularly helpful for those who have difficulty putting their feelings into words. The creative process can help clients access parts of themselves that may be difficult to access through talk therapy alone, and can provide a sense of empowerment and control over their healing process.
In addition to individual therapy sessions, counseling and arts therapy centers may also offer group therapy, workshops, and classes that focus on using creative expression as a means of promoting mental health and well-being.
